The first Assembly of the Biomass Association in BiH

26/06/2012 - The first Assembly of the Biomass Association in BiH will be held on 28th of June at mountain Vlasic.

In accordance with the current situation in the biomass sector in BiH, the market opportunities of the sector and need to increase awareness about the benefits of using biomass as a domestic, environmentally friendly and cost-competitive source of energy, UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the framework of the UNDP GEF project "BiH Biomass energy for Employment and Energy security -Biomass ", has identified a clear need for enhancement and generation of self-sustainable national biomass markets.

Establishing the Association represents one of Biomass project activities directed towards establishing sustainable biomass market and enhancing the cooperation between sector representatives and authorities, international organizations and similar associations.

Reputable national companies from biomass sector, as well as consulting companies, producers of energy, technology and biomass fuels, including individuals and private entrepreneurs and non-governmental organizations dealing with renewable energy from the entire country, cordially supported the establishment of the Biomass Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first Assembly will be used as opportunity to define and adopt Rules and regulations of the Association pertaining to accession and membership in the Association, funding and membership fees, as well as action and financial plan for 2012.

Throughout the Association, the BiH biomass sector and the interests of domestic producers will be better represented in the country and abroad. This fusion will promote sustainable development based on rational use of renewable energy, increase local energy security, promote creation of local market for biomass energy and in the long run lead to cleaner environment. In this way, the Association will indirectly bring Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to the international trends in the use of renewable energy sources, and influence removal of biomass market barriers and barriers to the establishment of sustainable energy services in rural areas Bosnia and Herzegovina through market transformation, job creation, reducing poverty in the community and secure energy supply at the local level.
