On 21.06.2012 began a two-day workshop on Vlasic for judges and prosecutors representing judicial institutions which will be included in UNDP's Project of establishing Witness Support Offices (WSO) in the coming period.
The aim of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with the mandate of WSOs during investigations and trials and to present the role of Witness Support Specialists (WSS) in the process. Moreover, best-practices of the already- tested and functioning Pilot Projects will be shared including chanelling of communication and the modes of cooperation between WSOs and the rest of the institution where they are set up.
UNDP Project „Support to Processing of War Crimes Cases in BiH“ (SPWCC) within its mandate already established WSOs at district courts and prosecutors' offices in Banja Luka and East Sarajevo and Cantonal Court and Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo. The aim of the Organization is to establish a comprehensive mechanism for victim/witness support across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with Bihać, Travnik and novi Travnik being the next locations where expansion will take place.
Finally, on this occasion certificates will be presented to Witness Support Specialists who underwent a complex and extensive theoretical and practical training on victim/witness support during a several months long period.
