06/07/2011 - With the support of the Integrated Local Development Project, which is jointly supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the UNDP BiH, in early 2011 23 BiH local governments and their communities adopted long-term development strategies. Today, as a result of the efforts of municipal teams and the financial support extended by the ILDP, some of the priority projects set in the strategies` implementation plans are already realised, with direct positive impact on the citizens` quality of life.

Some of the concrete priorities outlined within the recently adopted integrated local development strategies of the Municipalities of Srbac, Bosanska Krupa, Bosanski Petrovac and Kozarska Dubica became reality.

At the beginning of the year, the Municipality of Srbac commenced the creation of a water-supply infrastructure for settlements Gornje and Donje Lepenice – village „Mačkovića brdo“. The construction of the water-supply infrastructure, the costs of which amounted to 222.807 KM, was finalised in May 2011 and enabled access to water for over 50 households in the local community, thus improving quality of life for rural settlements within the municipality. The necessary financial resources for the water-supply infrastructure were provided by the ILDP, Srbac Municipality and the RS Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

The Municipality of Bosanska Krupa also successfully completed installation of a central heating system in the First Primary School, which hosts 580 children. Parents` association and citizens of Bosanska Krupa elevated the need to improve the conditions of the school and this priority was included in the 2011 social plan of the municipality. With the financial support of 108,727 KM provided by the ILDP and Bosanska Krupa Municipality, the central heating system was successfully installed in June 2011 and children and employed within the school enjoy better and more comfortable educational conditions.

Another successfully realised project, where funds of 76,631 KM were jointly provided by the ILDP and Bosanski Petrovac Municipality, is the rehabilitation and provision of basic equipment for the kindergarten in Bosanski Petrovac. During the ceremony marking the completion of the project which gathered children that attend the kindergarten, parents and representatives of the municipal team, Mayor Hajder said: “This initiative was highlighted as a priority in our strategy and with its realization we ensure adequate and better day-care conditions for the youngest members of our community”.

Encouraging rural tourism is one of the main priorities in the development strategy of Kozarska Dubica. In light of this strategic priority, the Municipality successfully realized the “Creation of ethno-village Knežica” project, which resulted in the restoration of a mini ethno-village capturing the cultural, historical and work traditions of the region, setting up of an attractive location for selling local agricultural products, as well as creating a community-gathering space. Total project value is 93,541 KM, where financial resources were jontly provided by the ILDP and Kozarska Dubica Municipality.
