ILDP and its 20 Partner Municipalities Encourage Ngos to Contribute to Participatory and Socially Inclusive Local Strategic Planning Processes

14/05/2010 - Within the Integrated Local Development Project (ILDP), the UNDP and its 20 partner municipalities - Bosanska Krupa, Bosanski Petrovac, Bugojno, Bužim, Doboj Istok, Doboj Jug, Kladanj, Kostajnica, Kotor Varoš, Kozarska Dubica, Ljubinje, Odžak, Orašje, Osmaci, Prnjavor, Srbac, Srebrenik, Šamac, Trnovo RS and Zenica – announced a public call encouraging non-governmental organizations registered and working on the territory of the partner municipalities to propose viable projects through which to expand citizen participation in the processes of elaboration or revision of local development strategies.

Partner municipalities, which are holders of the local strategic planning processes undergoing in their localities, stood behind the belief that local strategy development is unthinkable without the participation of local communities. Therefore, main objective of this Call for Project Applications is to contribute to a more transparent and socially inclusive local strategic planning, placing special attention on the involvement of vulnerable groups, unfairly represented citizen groups and minorities, people with disabilities, thus voicing out the development needs and priorities of local stakeholders and strengthening community ownership over the local strategies. Attracted by the idea, associated partners of the ILDP – the Municipalities of Cazin and Gracanica, joined the initiative and announced Calls for Project Applications, ensuring own financial resources from the municipal budgets to fund viable projects proposed by NGOs.

Calls for Applications and relevant documents are placed at websites and notice boards of the participating partner municipalities, as well as at the UNDP website under “Tenders” section.

ILDP is a joint initiative of the UNDP BiH and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), which also provides the financial support for ILDP implementation. The project is also supported by the BiH Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees, the Federal Ministry of Justice, the RS Ministry for Administration and Local Self-Governance and entities Associations of Municipalities and Cities.
