A More Efficient Local Self-governance: Memoranda of Cooperation Signed

The Memoranda of Cooperation for establishment of the training system for the employees of the local administration have been signed today n Sarajevo. The event also presented an opportunity to present the data on the problems of staff training at the local level.
The document has been signed by the United Nations Development Programme, Federal Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Administration and Local Self-governance of RS, Agencies for Civil Service of FBiH and RS as well as the Associations of Cities and Municipalities from both BH entities.
Together with the Ambassador of Sweden in BiH, H.E. Bosse Hedberg, as a representative of the project’s main donor, the members of the institutions involved in the program have emphasized both the importance of the event and the project for training of the local administration staff. „Signing of this Memorandum will lay an institutional groundwork at the entity level in order to create a sustainable system for staff training at the local administrative units“, said Ms. Christine McNab, UNDP BiH Resident Representative, praising the cooperation between UNDP, Embassy of Sweden and state, entity and municipal institutions for taking the way forward.
The report on the data acquired through interviews with senior municipal leaders was also presented at the event. The report contains a number of interesting and relevant information on the experiences of the local administrative units, including problems of training and staff capacity development.
