SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THREE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN TESLIĆ

07/09/2007 - The opening ceremonies for three reconstructed objects marked the latest local development activities in Teslić. Projects worth more than 158,000 BAM were implemented during the course of eight months, and were supported by the UNDP’s Rights-based Municipal Development Programme (RMAP_2006), Municipality of Teslić, Ministry of Education and Culture of the RS and citizens of Teslić.

The implementation of the three different projects was enabled by the co-financing activities and it encompassed: 1) installation of the central heating system in the Donji Vitkovci School; 2) reconstruction of the social club at the Rajševa community – first phase; 3) reconstruction of the regional school in Barići.

Within its first project, the UNDP’s RMAP programme has supported the Vuk Karadžić Elementary School from Vitkovci to create better conditions to perform the teaching process for 370 pupils from this Vitkovci, parts of villages Cerovica, Donje Radnje, Vrela and Gornje Radnje. Thanks to the second project – reconstruction of the social club at the Rajševa community – 150 returnee familes will have better conditions to organize cultural and other social events at this club.

Also, the conditions for advanced functioning of the community’s institutions were enhanced. The third project aimed to create better conditions for 33 existing and all other future pupils at the Barići School. Within this project, two classrooms, teachers’ offices, toilets, the hall and the corridors have been renovated altogether. The development of the Teslić Municipal Development Strategy, that was technically assisted by the UNDP’s RMAP programme, has been completed in June and approved in July 2005. UNDP’s RMAP programme has supported the implementation of the three projects worth more than 158,000 BAM within this strategy.

The Municipality of Teslić is, together with the municipalities of Donji Vakuf, Bugojno, Odžak, Zvornik, Orašje, Drvar, Ilijaš, Kiseljak, Breza and Visoko, a municipality that participates in one component of the RMAP programme implementation. Within this programme, the RMAP supports partner municipalities in development and implementation of the priority projects that have been selected from the development strategy based on human rights.

Within the previous and this year RMAP has supported 15 municipalities in development and implementation of their priority projects, in total. For this kind of support, around half a million of US Dollars will be invested until the end of the programme.
