Climate Change Facility for BiH Cities

About Project

This project has supported development of a Sustainable Energy Action Plan for City of Banja Luka as a pilot exercise, which will serve as a basis for demonstrating and advocating adoption and implementation of the model in other BiH towns. The Project will also provide technical assistance to secure sustainable funding structure for SEAP implementation through work on drafting new legislation for environmental funds and developing and implementing Energy and Assets Management Inforamtion System (EnAMIS) in BiH. Ultimate aim is to create a network of communities – Climate Change Champions, who will become drivers of change and sustainable development in BiH. In order to contribute to better understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources among BiH citizens, raising awareness campaign will be developed and implemented.

Objectives

The project established a facility that supports cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt and achieve goals related to climate change.

The Climate Change Facility, supports the development and adoption of Climate Change Action Plans for cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project supported development of a Sustainable Energy Action Plan for City of Banja Luka as a pilot exercise, which will serve as a basis for demonstrating and advocating adoption and implementation of the model in other towns.

The project provides technical assistance to secure sustainable funding structures for implementation of the Sustainable Energy Action Plans, including drafting new legislation for environmental funds and developing and implementing an Energy and Assets Management Information System in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ultimate aim is to create a network of communities that will champion sustainable development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A campaign to raise public awareness of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources is being carried out.
